During the next three weeks motorists should expect delays when traveling on westbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard between Overland Avenue and state Route 163, Caltrans announced Wednesday.

The lanes will narrowed and reduced to two lanes beginning Friday at 9 p.m. to Saturday, July 16.

Caltrans construction crews will also close all southbound lanes of state Route 163 between state Route 52 and Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. The closure includes the connector ramp from eastbound state Route 52 to southbound state Route 163 as well as the westbound lanes of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard over state Route 163. The closure will take place on the following nights:

• Saturday, June 25 at 9 p.m. to Sunday, June 26 at 9 a.m.
• Sunday, June 26 at 9 p.m. to Monday, June 27 at 4:30 a.m.
• Monday, June 27 at 9 p.m. to Tuesday, June 28 at 4 a.m.

Southbound state Route 163 motorists will be detoured to westbound state Route 52, to southbound Interstate 805, then to the Interstate 805/state Route 163 Interchange. Eastbound state Route 52 motorists will be detoured to southbound Interstate 15, then to the Interstate 15/Interstate 8 Interchange.

Westbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard motorists will be detoured to southbound Kearny Villa Road. Note the northbound state Route 163 on-ramp from Clairemont Mesa Boulevard will remain open.

Changeable messages signs have been placed to alert motorists about the upcoming closures.
