There are two vigils in San Diego and Oceanside planned for Sunday night to mourn the victims of a mass shooting that happened in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.
One vigil is scheduled on Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the Hillcrest Pride Flag, according to a Facebook event. Attendees will pay respect to the dead with candles, signs and “lots of love.”
“Sending thoughts and prayers to our Family in Orlando. Homophobia and transphobia need to be stopped more than ever,” said the hosts of the event on Facebook.
A second vigil is also set for 7 p.m. in Oceanside, at the North County LGBTQ Center at 510 N. Coast Highway, according to the City News Service. It will be held to show support and solidarity to the Orlando shooting victims. The event organizers say the center will provide a safe space to gather from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On Monday, the LGBT Community Center is holding a candlelit vigil in San Diego. According to a Facebook event, the doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with a short program. The vigil will stop at the Hillcrest Pride Flag and end at Rich’s San Diego.
There is a GoFundMe page set up for those who wish to make donations to the victims of the Orlando mass shootings.
