Juniper and Ivy, Coasterra and Bracero Cocina topped San Diego Magazine’s annual list of the best restaurants in San Diego.

The June issue, which will appear on newsstands soon, lists 243 top restaurants in 80 different categories.

Both the magazine’s readers and its food critic picked Juniper and Ivy in Little Italy as the “best of the best.”

Readers chose Coasterra on Harbor Island as the best new restaurant, while the magazine’s critic, Troy Johnson, picked Chef Javier Plascencia’s Bracero Cocina downtown.

“San Diego is in the midst of a restaurant glut. There are too many good optionsm,” said Johnson.

Big winners across multiple categories included Addison, Coasterra, Searsucker and Carnita’s Snack Shack.

Among the notable winners in selected categories:

Best Date Spot — Readers picked Bleu Bohème in Kensington, while Johnson chose Cafe Chloe downtown.

Best Italian — Both readers and Johnson chose Solare Ristorante in Liberty Station.

Best SteakhouseCowboy Star in the Gaslamp was the runaway winner in this category

Best PizzaNapizza in Little Italy, Hillcrest and 4S Ranch was the readers’ favorite, while Johnson picked Buona Forchetta in South Park.

Best FriesSearsucker in La Jolla and Del Mar won everyone’s vote as the best spot.
