In honor of World Oral Health Day last week, San Diego-based Nurturley, Inc., a children’s oral health company, donated 50 Soft Chomp toothbrush and book sets to YWCA of San Diego County and its Becky’s House domestic violence program, a value of $750.

Soft Chomp, which was developed by Whitney Mullen at San Diego State University’s Zahn Innovation Center, is uniquely designed to create a better tooth brushing experience for babies, toddlers, and their parents. The Soft Chomp toothbrush has a patent-pending double layer design that is gentle on teething babies’ tender gums while protecting parents’ fingers from bites during brushing, making for a pain-free routine.

“We may be a small company, but Soft Chomp has a big heart – one that is absolutely overflowing with gratitude,” Mullen said. “This donation, on behalf of our generous Kickstarter backers who helped make Soft Chomp a reality, reflects our commitment to the health of children and families in our community, especially those in need. We couldn’t think of a more deserving organization than YWCA of San Diego County, who does such wonderful, often unknown, work throughout the county.”

YWCA of San Diego County empowers women, men and children to break the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness, and achieve self-sufficiency. Through Becky’s House®, Passages, and Cortez Hill Family Center, their programs and services allow individuals and families to recover from trauma, improve their economic status, find permanent housing, and ultimately, transform their lives.

Through community outreach initiatives, Nurturley, the company behind the Soft Chomp brand, aims to raise awareness about the importance of early childhood oral care and help families decrease instances of tooth decay, the number one chronic childhood disease in the United States.

Retailing for $14.99, Soft Chomp’s fun toothbrush and book sets keep baby happy and healthy. They are also non-toxic and BPA-free. For more information, visit www.softchomp.com.
