San Diego County residents can expect a bit of everything this weekend —and, all under the sun.
Here is what’s in stored for us this weekend:
Carlsbad’s stunning Flower Fields are officially open every day from 9 a.m to 6 p.m. through May 8. Attendees can expect to see 50 acres of beautiful flowers and enjoy special activities and events. Tickets range from $7 to $14.
Strap on your tennis shoes and head to Balboa Park for the beloved Finish Chelsea’s Run in honor of Poway girl Chelsea King. The run raises money in support of the Chelsea’s Light Foundation’s Sunflower Scholarship Fund. Registration ranges from $10 to $40. The race begins at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
The city of Oceanside is hosting a cleanup at the San Luis Rey River at 9 a.m. Saturday. Help clean and restore this North County gem.
The Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego is hosting a cocktail competition at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Local mixologists will serve up their finest drinks for visitors. Tickets are $58.
Petco Park is hosting their annual Festival of Science and Engineering beginning Saturday. The 10-day event features demonstrations, activities and speakers. Admission is free.
