Helen Woodward Animal Center announced Wednesday it will host its 7th annual Puppy Love 5K on March 13.

The annual event, which will take place at Lake Poway, is a dog-friendly 5K with the goal of fundraising money for the animal shelter.

In addition to the two separate races (running at 8:30am and walking at 8:50am), the festivities will feature St. Patrick’s Day-themed fun at the “After Paw-ty” in the Wagging Wellness Village with music, a human-canine costume contest, dog agility, kid’s activities including face painting, food, and dozens of interactive heath and pet related booths.

“We are so touched by the incredible number of people who have already shown their support for the upcoming 5K,” stated Vice President of Development Renee Resko. “We’re lucky to be surrounded by a community that truly loves animals, and is willing to go the distance to save lives. From our generous hosts at the City of Poway, to all of the volunteers that make this event possible, it’s just beautiful to see people come together to help our four-legged friends.”

Race entry for the 7th Annual Puppy Love 5K is $38 for adult runners and walkers and $15 for junior runners and walkers with great team discounts available.

The Puppy Love 5K pre-events kick off at 7:00am at Lake Poway with runners hitting the trail at 8:30am.
