The busy intersection of West Washington and Goldfinch streets in Mission Hills is scheduled to be closed most of this weekend, beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, for road work, according to the city of San Diego.

The closure is for a project to replace about four miles of cast-iron water pipelines through Mission Hills, Hillcrest, North Park and University Heights.

City officials said alternate routes include Fort Stockton Drive to the north, Hawk Street to the west, Falcon Street to the east, and West University Avenue to the south.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

The work is scheduled to be completed some time on Sunday.
