Caltrans announced Friday that a portion of Interstate 5 near Camp Pendleton will be closed.
Caltrans, San Diego Gas & Electric and California Highway Patrol crews will perform traffic breaks beginning at 1 a.m.
The breaks are needed to allow SDG&E crews to make repairs to overhead power lines that span all lanes of I-5. Durations and number of traffic breaks will vary as the work progresses.
Motorists are reminded to Be Work Zone Alert and to Move Over a lane when safe to do so, or slow when highway workers are present with amber lights flashing.
Officials urged the public to follow @SDCaltrans on Twitter and visit CaltransDistrict11 on Facebook to keep current on transportation information including planned closures and major traffic incidents on state highways in San Diego and Imperial counties.
