The House of Peru, a nonprofit organization, will host an open house starting at noon Sunday in Balboa Park‘s Hall of Nations.

In an effort to promote friendship and collaboration, the event will feature authentic cuisine, art and dance performances from Peru. Sunday’s open house will last from noon to 3 p.m. at the Hall of Nations, 2191 Pan American Road W.

Profits from this event will be used to help fund the construction of the group’s new cottage in Balboa Park, according to Oscar Urteaga, an official with the group. The House of Peru is one of 33 member countries of the House of Pacific Relations, an organization that promotes multicultural goodwill and understanding through educational and cultural programs.

The House of Peru has wanted to join Balboa Park’s village of international cottages for some time. Plans advanced in February 2015, when the San Diego Planning Commission gave preliminary approval for nine new cottages.

In addition to Peru, others slated to get new cottages include the Philippines, Panama, Colombia, Mexico, India, Palestine, Lebanon and Turkey.
