A San Diego County organization is urging people to support their four-legged friends.

The San Diego Humane Society will host a Walk for the Animals on Feb. 20 in Escondido and May 7 in San Diego. The funds raised from the walk will pay for the organization to “investigate animal cruelty, save animals from disasters, treat puppies stricken with canine parvovirus, care for neonatal kittens, provide specialized veterinary care, rescue and rehabilitate native wildlife, provide essential services to keep pets in their homes and out of shelters, and so much more,” according to its website.

According to the nonprofit’s latest annual report, 11,615 animals were adopted directly from the organization in one year. Of those animals, 3,326 were transferred from local shelters and 5,616 are “community-owned.”

Registration is $20 for children and $40 for adults.
