A local credit union will host a blood drive Wednesday at six locations.

San Diego County Credit Union said it’s hosting the blood drive because the holiday season left many hospitals running low on blood.

“The help of the community is greatly needed – lives depend on it,” the credit union said in a press release.

The blood drive will be held at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:

• SDCCU Operations Center at 6545 Sequence Dr., San Diego, CA 92121

• SDCCU Encinitas Branch at 501 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas, CA 92024

• SDCCU National City Branch at 2525 East Plaza Blvd., National City, CA 91950
