A cold front is bearing down on Southern California, bringing near-freezing temperatures to parts of San Diego County overnight Sunday and the chance of light rain on Monday.
The National Weather Service said the system will cause scattered showers west of the mountains and snow showers to elevations above 4,000 feet.
“A storm will move down the California Coast today, and bring showers to Southern California this afternoon and evening,” according to the weather service.
The forecast calls for lows 33 to 43 along the coast Sunday night, and 28 to 38 inland. A frost warning is in effect until 8 a.m. Monday for inland valleys.
Highs Monday will be 59 along the coast and 58 inland. There is a 50 percent chance of precipitation, but rainfall is expected to be light.
Forecasters said the storm could bring .28 of an inch of rain in San Diego; .26 of an inch in Julian; .22 of an inch to Miramar and Mount Laguna; .16 of an inch in Alpine; .13 of an inch to Palomar Mountain; .11 of an inch in Escondido; a tenth of an inch in Ramona; .09 of an inch in Oceanside; and .02 of an inch to Borrego Springs.
