Once the sun sets, San Diego County shines bright with Christmas lights.

In a photo and video tour ending Monday — ahead of the rain — Times of San Diego.com visited these landmarks of residential, beach and church holiday beauty:

  • Mission Valley Hilton “Joy” sign (lamps in 85 rooms), visible from state Route 163 southbound and Interstate 8.
  • Crystal Pier in Pacific Beach
  • Ocean Beach Christmas tree
  • The Forward House in Bankers Hill (display last through New Year’s Eve, 5-10 p.m. 108 Ivy St.)
  • Sights and Sounds of Christmas (through Jan. 1, 5-11 pm. San Diego Temple of the Mormon Church, 7474 Charmant Drive, La Jolla)
  • Jingle Bell Hill in El Cajon, also known as Pepper Drive, Solomon Avenue, Pegeen Place and surrounding streets. Off state Route 67 and Bradley Avenue (through Dec. 26, 6-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 6-10 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
  • 6266 De Camp Drive in La Mesa (through Dec. 25, 5-9 p.m.)
  • Holiday Hill, Stadler Street between Dugan Avenue and Lake Murray Boulevard in La Mesa (through Dec. 31, sunset-10 p.m.)
  • Home at 9773 Roe Drive, Santee, 27,000 Christmas lights synched to holiday songs, through Dec. 31. 6-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 6-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday)
  • Home at San Angelo Avenue and Dallas Street in La Mesa.

  • Fairway Village, Carmel Mountain Ranch, through Jan. 1, west side of Stoney Gate Place.
  • Garrison Street Lights, Point Loma, Wildwood Lane, through Dec. 31. 5-10 p.m.
