Over 200 bicyclists in the San Diego Bicycle Club rode from La Jolla Village Square to the Salvation Army Kroc Center on Saturday, according to their Facebook page, to deliver gifts collected during their 28th annual holiday toy drive.
The bike caravan was led by none other than Santa Claus. The toys will be used for the Kroc Center’s Toy ‘n’ Joy Workshop, in which members of local families in need can select presents. Around 1,500 children benefit from the workshop each year.
In El Cajon, toys dropped off at the El Cajon Fire Department were driven aboard fire trucks to the parking lot of Target in the annual Fire Truck Toy Parade. The donations were delivered to the Salvation Army for their 40th annual East County Toy & Food Drive.
More than 1,500 children and their parents are set to ride the North County Transit District’s annual Holiday Express train on a 65 minute round trip from the Oceanside Transit Center to Solana Beach and back. Participants in the sold-out event are riding in decorated Coaster train cars with Santa Claus and enjoy caroling and other entertainment.
