San Diego can expect cool days and cold nights this weekend and the possibility of freezing temperatures in inland areas.

The National Weather Service forecast for San Diego calls for sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 60s and gusty winds. Lows Saturday night will be in the high 30s to low 40s. Sunday will be a little warmer.

“Temperatures will continue to be rather cold through Sunday for much of our area,” the weather service said, warning that patchy frost is possible in sheltered inland areas.

The cold weather is due to a cold, low-pressure area over the Great Basin region of the United States.
