Wine, food and music. As the Bard says, “If music be the food of love, play on.”

Here’s your guide to some of the top events in town.

San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival

San Diego may not be wine country, but we appreciate our wine just the same. The weeklong San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival will pair some of the world’s premier wines with some of the best gourmet foods.

More than 100 citywide events are planned for the weeklong event, including wine and cooking classes, chef dinners and multiple tasting events.

The Wine & Food Festival goes from Sunday to Sunday. Ticket varies by events.

Chula Vista Bayfront Band Review and Festival

This is the largest band review in Southern California. Chula Vista will honor military veterans with a large community parade and marching bands throughout the state.

Hometown favorites, such as the Mira Mesa High School Sapphire Sounds, who will be marching in the Tournament of Roses Parade, along with bands from Burbank and Imperial Valley will be a part of the festival.

The Bayfront Band Review and Festival starts at 10 a.m. Saturday. The event is free to attend.

Diva on Detour

A star in the opera world, but for one night Patricia Racette will return to her cabaret roots in San Diego Opera’s Diva On Tour.

The event will feature songs by  Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwin and Edith Piaf.

The show starts at 7 p.m. at Balboa Theatre. Ticket starts at $30.

Escondido Tamales Festival

It’s no secret that Mexican cuisine has become entrenched in Southern California’s culture. This weekend, all things tamales will be celebrated at the Escondido Tamales Festival.

The event features tamale contest, live music, other Latin food and, why not, a Chihuahua costume contest.

The event goes from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Grape Day Park. It’s free to attend though you can purchase the VIP experience for $35.

San Diego Music Thing

The eighth annual San Diego Music Thing is a three-day event that includes a conference on navigating the music industry, which started Thursday.

Through the weekend, there will be performances by around 100 acts at nine area venues.

Performances are scheduled through Saturday at venues such as The Casbah, 2501 Kettner Blvd.; Bar Pink, 3829 30th St.; Observatory North Park, 2891 University Ave.; and Soda Bar, 3615 El Cajon Blvd.

Ticket prices vary.
