The county Department of Environmental Health (DEH) reopened the Imperial Beach shoreline on Saturday.
The all-clear order includes the beach-line from Imperial Beach at Seacoast Drive all the way to Camp Surf at Carnation Avenue. The DEH has confirmed that the water quality is at an acceptable level, as demonstrated by the results of recent tests.
These waters had previously been closed because of sewage contamination from the Tijuana River entering the United States.
However, the ocean shoreline from the International Border to the south end of Imperial Beach at Seacoast Drive will continue to be off limits until additional tests confirm the water quality meets state requirements.
