The county Department of Environmental Health reports Coronado’s beaches are safe again for swimming after being closed for 72 hours because of sewage from the Tijuana River.

The department announced Thursday afternoon that testing had confirmed the safety of the water along the Coronado shoreline. However, beaches from the border to the north end of the Silver Strand remain closed because of health concerns

Sewage from the Tijuana River flowed north following heavy rains and runoff over the weekend, prompting a closure advisory on Monday afternoon.
