A magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck seven miles northeast of Borrego Springs in rural San Diego County not long after dawn on Sunday.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the earthquake at 6:02 a.m. The depth was 6.8 miles.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The agency’s “Did You Feel It?” reporting website listed 287 replies as of 7:50 a.m.

Residents said they felt the quake as far west as La Jolla and as far south as Chula Vista.
