San Diego County deserts will see gusty winds reaching up to 50 miles per hour this weekend.

A National Weather Service advisory took effect Friday night, warning that strong winds would develop that evening and continue through Saturday night. The advisory remains in effect until 2am Sunday.

“Strongest winds will surface through the San Gorgonio Pass into the northern sections of the Coachella Valley. Winds will gradually diminish late Saturday night,” the advisory said.

The winds could create difficult driving conditions, particularly on I-10 near Palm Springs, with visibility reduced to 2 miles in blowing sand.
