May is here, which means summer is almost here.

But it’s San Diego, so it’s pretty much summer all the time. Here are some of the events happening this weekend.

Chef Celebration San Diego

It seems that any given weekend in San Diego, there’s a beer event of some sort. This weekend is no different.

At the Chef Celebration San Diego, you’ll enjoy 14 small-bite courses created by each of the 14 local chefs from outstanding eateries, and each course will be paired with a craft beer.  Check out the event’s website for a complete listing of chefs and participating breweries.

The celebration is from noon to 3 p.m. at Stone Brewery Liberty Station. Tickets are $ 49.

In Bloom Spring Market

You know who would love some local handmade goods? Moms. With Mother’s Day only a week away, In Bloom Market will feature 40 local artists and craftsman, and large-scale floral installations. You’ll be sure to find that perfect gift for mom.

In Bloom Market goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Union-Barrio Logan, 2191 Main Street. The event is free.

Free Comic Book Day

Once a year, on the first Saturday in May, participating comic books stores will give away free comics to everyone who wants one.

More than 5.2 million comics were specifically printed for Free Comic Book Day. In San Diego, SoCal Comics will be giving out comics from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Food and Wine Festival

This weekend is the 15th Annual Junior League of San Diego Food & Wine Festival.

The annual tradition brings more than 50 restaurants, wineries and micro brews together at La Jolla Cove for some delicious foods and tasty wines. Live music will be playing, so bring your dancing shoes.

Food & Wine Festival goes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $85.

Old Town Fiesta Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is on a school day, so it only makes sense to celebrate it on the weekend.

The two-day 32nd Annual Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo features three stages of live entertainment, a low rider display, kid’s activities, more than 50 food and retail booths, a Cantina Garden and restaurant specials.

Old Town Fiesta Cinco de Mayo is all day Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free.

Free Boat Rides

Flagship Cruises & Events is turning 100.

To celebrate, the company is throwing a party from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Guests will enjoy food, drinks and fun aboard Flagship’s fleet of luxury yachts, docked along the newly-remodeled embarcadero.

The event, which also includes complimentary rides on Flagship’s Patriot jet boat, is free and open to the public.
