A ban on open flames issued Saturday in many parts of San Diego County was rescinded Sunday due to improve weather conditions, Cal Fire said.
“Due to increased relative humdity, higher fuel moisture and a general improvement in predicted fire weather conditions, my proclamation suspending burning under permit and other uses of open fire that took affect Saturday at 8 a.m was terminated at 8 a.m. today,” said Dave Nissen, deputy chief, San Diego Unit of Cal Fire.
The day-long, no-burn proclamation affected all lands in San Diego and Imperial counties under state responsibility for fighting fires.
That included much of East County around Dulzura, Campo and Potrero. A dispatcher at the Cleveland National Forest said similar restrictions were in affect Saturday on federal lands near Julian, Descanso and Pine Valley.
No-burn proclamations also apply to campfires, making them legal only in pits in established, public campgrounds.
