A cold low pressure system brought more rain and snow Monday to an already soaked San Diego County.
As of 8 p.m. Sunday, the storm had dropped 1.16 inches at the Carlsbad Airport, 0.87 at Brown Field, .78 at Lindbergh Field, .92 in Valley Center, .82 in Escondido, .8 at Miramar Lake, .78 in Poway, 1.13 in Ramona, .99 in Alpine, .94 in Santee, 1.88 inches of rain in Pine Hills, 1.67 inches in Julian, 1.48 in the Lake Cuyamaca area, 1.4 in Descanso, 1.64 on Otay Mountain, .31 in Ocotillo Wells and .29 in Borrego Springs.
In the mountains, eight inches of snow accumulation was reported on Palomar Mountain as of Sunday night.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning until 4 p.m. for the mountains, saying snowfall was likely above 4,500 feet.
“Residents and travelers in the mountains should be prepared for hazardous winter weather conditions, chain controls and possible road closures,” the weather service said. “Carry chains and take extra food and clothing.”
The agency also issued a marine weather statement for coastal waters off San Diego County, saying isolated thunderstorms were possible through early Tuesday morning. Mariners were cautioned to seek safe harbor should they spot threatening weather approaching.
