Bright colors and sounds of music and children squealing punctuated the night air as the 10th annual San Diego Tet Festival kicked off its three-day new year’s celebration Friday.
Festival goers were treated to lion dancing, traditional food and carnival rides as the traditional mixed with the modern in Mira Mesa Community Park.
The festival continues Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m.
The weekend Vietnamese New Year’s celebration will include a fashion show in Ao Dai, (traditional Vietnamese dresses) a dance competition, Miss Vietnam pageant and a martial arts procession.
The event is free. Parking is limited in the lot; parking is available at Mira Mesa High School across the street.
Food and a beer garden are offered along with Fun Zone rides and game booths.
