San Diego City College President Anthony Beebe will serve as grand marshal Sunday for the 35th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parade.

The event is sponsored by the Zeta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the oldest African-American fraternity, founded in 1906.

The parade will step off at 2 p.m. on North Harbor Drive in front of the County Administration Center and continue to Pacific Highway and G Street. The parade includes floats, marching bands, drill teams, church organizations and members of college groups.

Beebe will be joined by hundreds of students, faculty, and staff from City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges, and the Continuing Education campus, all of which will be entering floats in the parade, according to the San Diego Community College District.

He led the Continuing Education campus for eight years before being tapped as City College president last year.

Constance Carroll, the district’s chancellor, served as grand marshal last year.
