The five-day forecast from the National Weather Service office in San Diego.

A weak trough will bring cloudy skies with a chance of light showers to the San Diego region on Sunday, along with gusty west winds in the mountains  and high deserts.

The National Weather Service said it will be fair and a little warmer on Monday, then increasingly cloudy with periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night.

The weather service is predicting rainfall to total 1 to 1.25 inches along the coast and in the valleys, with more rain in the mountains, and snow possible at higher elevations.

Scattered  showers will linger into Wednesday and gradually taper off into Thursday. Fair weather returns next Friday and Saturday.
