Jewish Family Service of San Diego said Tuesday it received the highest rating possible from the influential Charity Navigator for the seventh consecutive year.
The 4-star designation puts JFS in a group of 2 percent of nonprofits nationally that have earned this distinction over this length of time.
“Receiving four out of a possible four stars indicates that the organization adheres to good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way,” said Ken Berger, president and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only 2 percent of the charities we rate have received at least seven consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Jewish Family Service of San Diego outperforms most other charities in America.”
Charity Navigator is considered America’s largest and most influential rater of charities and nonprofits.
“This accomplishment is a testament to our board of directors and staff who take great pride in fulfilling our mission and managing our resources so we can help move clients along the continuum of self-sufficiency. It addresses perhaps the greatest donor concern — that their money is stewarded wisely and put to good use,” said Michael Hopkins, CEO of Jewish Family Service.
