More than 55 high-end chefs, restaurants and caterers will present their signature dishes Friday night for a fundraiser to benefit San Diego-area HIV/AIDS and cancer victims.
But diners may be high-end as well, with tickets to Friday’s event starting at $150.

The 23rd annual Mama’s Day dinner to benefit Mama’s Kitchen will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla on La Jolla Village Drive, according to organizers.
Sam “The Cooking Guy” Zien will be the event’s host for the sixth straight year. Guests also may bid in a silent auction and enter an opportunity drawing for a wine vault valued at $1,000.
Premium VIP tickets were available for $250 each, which includes early access at 5:30 p.m. to an exclusive VIP pre-party featuring a special presentation by Sam the Cooking Guy before the doors open to general admission attendees at 6:30 p.m.
Mama’s Kitchen delivers food to people suffering from HIV/AIDS and cancer. Last month, the nonprofit delivered its 7 millionth meal since its inception in 1990.
When Mama’s Kitchen began, it served 26 people in its first year. Last year, 353,000 meals were delivered to 622 people three times a day, seven days a week, at no charge to them.
