The House of Israel in Balboa Park will host its annual lawn program on Sunday, with Israeli food a klezmer band and instruction in Israeli dancing.
The free program begins at noon and continues until 4 p.m. Entertainment starts at 2 p.m. and includes:
- Dancers from Tarbuton, San Diego’s Israeli Cultural Center
- Singers Yael and Vlady
- Yale Strom and his Klezmer Band, “Hot Pstrami,” with vocalist Elizabeth Schwartz
- Israeli dancing instruction by Dalyah along with audience participation
Children’s art activities will be provided, and fast-growing tomato plants whose seeds come from Israel will be available while supplies last.
Israeli food, which will be available for purchase, will include shwarma, salad, and because this date falls in the middle of the Passover holiday, matzoh (unleavened bread).
The house, one of 32 international houses in the park, features modern Israeli-innovations, an entire wall of Jerusalem stone, and state-of-the-art technology which depicts life in modern Israel.
Visitors are invited to bring blankets, chairs, hats and umbrellas and relax on the lawn.
