Carnitas Snack Shack often has a line trailing far down the block from its University Avenue home. Look for the queue to get longer, thanks to the Cooking Channel.

The North Park eatery, which specializes in pork of every variety  – bacon, belly, schnitzel, and naturally, carnitas – is now featured in a program offered by the Food Network offshoot.

The Cooking Channel’s “Offbeat Eats with Jim Stacy” featured the two-year-old eatery in an episode that debuted Thursday, focusing on restaurants that base a dish on a famous monster movie.

In the case of Carnitas Snack Shack, the spotlight fell on a tomato dish inspired by the cult classic, “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” (which has some big San Diego connections).

“Offbeat Eats…” bills itself as a show that celebrates “America’s roadside rebel chefs, the people who create quirky eateries that are off the beaten path.”

Catch the show again on the Cooking Channel at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Carnitas Snack Shack is at 2632 University Ave., San Diego.
