San Diego City Councilman David Alvarez and his wife, Xochitl, welcomed their second child Thursday.
The boy was born at 9:04 a.m., and he and his mother are doing well, Alvarez spokeswoman Lisa Schmidt said, adding that she expected to announce the baby’s name and other information later.
“Healthy and happy and lots of hair,” he tweeted several hours later.
The Alvarez family already includes a daughter, Izel.
Alvarez, a first-term council member who represents Barrio Logan and communities in South San Diego, unsuccessfully ran against Mayor Kevin Faulconer in the Feb. 11 runoff election.
