If you favor beach dives with personality, San Diego is about to lose one, reports San Diego magazine.

The Green Flash – the name pays homage to that ever-elusive glimpse of green at the end of a perfect sunset – is set to end its nearly quarter-of-a-century run at the base of Thomas Avenue and Ocean Boulevard.

The magazine says the owners behind Cabo Cantina will take over the beachfront space once The Green Flash is shuttered.

The impending closure, the magazine says, is so bad it’s as if “a panda has croaked.” But you can celebrate the restaurant by having one final eponymous drink before they go. The signature Green Flash, in case you don’t know, has rum, melon liqueur and orange juice.
