Health officials announced a water contact warning Sunday for Silver Strand Guard Shack. South swell conditions are present and pushing polluted ocean waters from Mexico to the north.
Bacteria levels in this area exceed state health standards and ocean waters may contain sewage and cause illness, officials said.
The Tijuana Slough Shoreline from the International Border to South end of Seacoast Drive remains closed until sampling confirms the water is safe. The public is advised to avoid contact as the water in this area is impacted by sewage and may cause illness, according to The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality.
Additionally, the following areas are still under an advisory for bacteria levels that have exceeded state health standards and may cause illness:
- Bayside Park at J Street
- Tidelands Park
- San Diego River Outlet
- North Cove Vacation Isle
- La Jolla Cove
- Avenida De La Playa
- Children’s Pool
