The San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency reported 252 new COVID-19 cases Friday, along with five more deaths.

The new data increased the county’s pandemic totals to 748,896 cases, with 5,155 deaths since the pandemic began.

From Monday through Wednesday, officials reported that local residents took almost 37,000 COVID tests, with an average of 11,452 tests recorded over the last seven days.

The rate of positives over that period is 2.8%, down from the 3.2% reported Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-positive patients in county hospitals increased to 162, up by two from Thursday, according to state numbers.

The tally of local patients in intensive care rose by three, to 39. The number of available ICU beds in the county remained at 251.
