San Diego County public health officials Wednesday reported 2,925 new cases of COVID-19 and 25 additional virus-related deaths.
The newest data brings the county’s cumulative coronavirus totals to 702,789 infections and 4,735 deaths since the pandemic began.
The number of COVID-positive patients in San Diego County hospitals increased by 59 people to 1,217, according to the latest state data. Of the hospitalized patients, 220 were in intensive care, up six from the previous day.
A total of 35,675 new tests were reported to the county on Wednesday, and the percentage of new positive cases over the past week was 19.8%.
More than 2.87 million county residents — around 91.4% of all those eligible — have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. More than 2.53 million San Diegans are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, representing roughly 80.4% of eligible residents.
In addition, 1,072,823 booster shots have been administered in the region.
