San Diego County health officials reported 390 new cases of COVID-19 and five deaths Thursday.
With the new numbers, the region’s total case numbers during the pandemic rose to 366,056. The local death toll remained at 4,183.
An additional 24 COVID-positive patients required hospital care according to the county, but there were no new intensive care admissions.
The county also noted 35,888 recent COVID tests, with the percentage of new positives over the prior seven days at 2.5%.
Meanwhile, a panel of advisers to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday unanimously backed COVID-19 vaccine boosters for recipients of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson shots.
They also said Americans can choose a different shot from their original inoculation as a booster.
