A San Diego school for unhoused youth received a grant to expand their programming Friday.
Monarch School Project, founded in 1987, is the only K-12 school in the nation exclusively for unhoused youth. Since 2023, the school has scaled its operations to support unhoused youth in the region and around the country.
The $4 million grant from the Bob & Dolores Hope Foundation will be used for creative youth programming and behavioral health programs.
“Unhoused youth need to be defined by their potential, not their condition, and be provided opportunities to highlight their strengths and thrive,” said Afira DeVries, president and CEO of Monarch School Project.
