From July 25 to Aug. 25, San Diego City District 3 Councilmember Stephen Whitburn will be hosting his 2024 Back to School Drive.
An initiative created by Whitburn, the Back to School Drive is designed to ensure that hundreds of children and teachers in District 3 have necessary supplies and resources to start the academic year.
Donations will go to students and educators at all of the public K-12 schools in District 3. Schools include Grant T K-8, Florence Elementary, Washington Elementary, Birney Elementary, Garfield Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Roosevelt International, McKinley Elementary, Golden Hill K-8, Garfield High, and San Diego High School.
Partners for the initiative include North Park Main Street, Fabulous Hillcrest, Hillcrest All-Inclusive Kiwanis Club, Gaslamp Quarter, and the El Cajon Boulevard Business Improvement Association.
Whitburn’s commitments to District 3 go beyond education, serving on the city’s Active Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and a member of the Land Use and Housing Committee, the Audit Committee, and the Public Safety Committee.
Donations can be dropped off at the following locations within District 3, as well as at Hillcrest All-Inclusive Kiwanis Club meetings, which are held at Uptown Tavern on Thursdays, Aug. 8 and Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m.:
