Sept. 27, 7 p.m. Late Spring (Japan, 1949)
Noriko is 27 years old and still living with her widowed father. Everybody tries to talk her into marrying, but Noriko wants to stay at home caring for her father. Directed by Yasujirô Ozu. Not rated. 108 min.
Nov. 15, 7 p.m. Seadrift (USA, 2019)
In 1979, the fatal shooting of a white crabber in a Texas fishing village ignites a maelstrom of hostilities against Vietnamese reugee communities along the Gulf Coast. Post-screening discussion with film’s producer and MiraCosta College Sociology Faculty Dr. Thao Ha. Directed by Tim Tsai. Not rated. 81 min. This screening will be in the MiraCosta College Concert Hall (Room 2400) at 1 Barnard Drive in Oceanside. Admission is free.
Each film (except Seadrift) will screen in the MiraCosta College Little Theatre (Room 3601) at 1 Barnard Drive in Oceanside. The films will be presented in the original languages with English subtitles. Admission is free and seating is limited.
