A part-time faculty member at MiraCosta College is being honored for her leadership by the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges, it was announced Thursday.

Krista Warren has been named the recipient of the FACCC’s Part-Time Faculty of the Year Award.

The award is presented to an outstanding part-timer whose leadership benefits community college faculty at the campus and district levels, according to the FACCC. She was nominated by colleagues and chosen for the award after consideration of candidates from across the state, the FACCC said.

Warren, who serves as a noncredit faculty coordinator at Oceanside’s MiraCosta College, has been a “strong advocate for part-time faculty,” according to the FACCC. She also serves as an associate faculty representative to the Academic Senate Council.

“I have worked closely with Krista for several years and can say without reservation that her passion is unparalleled. She is not only a great advocate for part-time faculty, she is an advocate for all faculty,” said Adam Wetsman, FACCC president and instructor at Rio Hondo College.

The award will be presented to Warren next month in Sacramento during the FACCC’s Advocacy & Policy Conference.
