San Diego State University has received a record-setting 93,610 undergraduate applications for fall 2018, it was announced Monday.
It marks the third year in a row that SDSU received more than 80,000 undergraduate applications and the first time it has topped 90,000, according to the university.
The application period for fall 2018 closed Nov. 30. The total undergrad applicants is an increase of more than 11 percent over last year’s tally of 83,000.
SDSU also has received more than 3,000 graduate applications for a total of more than 96,000 applications to date for fall 2018 admission. The final number could increase as many of the university’s graduate programs are still open and accepting applications, according to university officials.
“This robust interest in SDSU reflects the excellence of our academic and research programs and our national reputation,” said SDSU President Sally Roush.
Among the undergraduate applicants are 68,475 first-time freshmen and 25,135 new transfer students.
The most popular majors chosen by this year’s cohort of first-time freshman applicants were biology, business, nursing and psychology.
Applicants can expect to receive acceptance notifications in March 2018.
