A San Diego State University professor was re-appointed to the California Scientific Guidance Panel Friday by Gov. Jerry Brown.
Penelope Quintana, 58, has served on the panel since 2013. Since 1995, she held several positions at the SDSU Graduate School of Public Health. They include graduate adviser for the Master of Public Health and global health Doctor of Philosophy degree programs in addition to associate and assistant professor.
The Scientific Guidance Panel is a panel of expert scientists from outside of state government that play a major role in the California Environmental Contaminant Biomonitoring Program, also known as Biomonitoring California.
Quintana is a member of the International Society of Exposure Science who earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in environmental health sciences from UC Berkeley and a Master of Public Health degree in occupational and environmental health from SDSU.
The position does not require senate confirmation and there is no compensation.
