A reported sighting of a man who appeared to be armed with a gun in a parking lot Tuesday at Grossmont College triggered a search, but no such person was found.
A student reported seeing the seemingly armed man in a car at the El Cajon campus shortly after 2 p.m., said Anne Krueger, spokeswoman for Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District.

As of 3:35 PM, @SDSheriff determined NO THREAT EXISTS to campus after a 1-hour search after a report of a person in a car with a handgun.

Out of an “abundance of caution,” administrators locked down a daycare center on the grounds of the school while sheriff’s deputies searched the campus and its environs by ground and from aboard a law enforcement helicopter.
The personnel found no threats, and the incident caused no class disruptions, Krueger said.
