San Diego County has entered into an agreement with National University to offer reduced tuition and fees for the county’s 16,000 employees.
County employees will be eligible for a scholarship equivalent to a 15 percent tuition reduction, as well as an application fee waiver toward earning an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree or certification.
The collaboration is being praised by County Supervisors Ron Roberts and Dave Roberts.
“I’m very excited about this partnership with National University, which has a strong track record in student success and outcomes,” said Dave Roberts. “We are committed to providing our County employees with opportunities for academic advancement. National University’s programs are easily-accessible to our workers and will improve their delivery of services to the public.”
Headquartered in La Jolla, the school is the second-largest, private, nonprofit university in California. Its list of alumni includes former San Diego Mayor and Police Chief Jerry Sanders, and former Escondido Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler.
