Southwestern College on Friday completed a two-year $35 million project that included a new classroom building and athletic facilities and a renovated football stadium.

The four-story classroom building is part of a new 58,000-square-foot complex that includes a fitness center and locker rooms.

Workers also remodeled DeVore Stadium, where the Southwestern Jaguars and area high schools play football games. The Jaguars played at Olympian High School the past two seasons.

The stadium is named after the first president of the college, Chester DeVore.

The project was funded by the $389 million Proposition R construction bond passed by voters in 2009.

The fall semester at local community colleges begins Monday.
