“We created this program three years ago to provide an opportunity for higher education for exceptional student athletes who have made a positive impact within their communities and might not have been able to attend college otherwise,” said Ken Hicks, the chairman, president and CEO of Foot Locker.

“We are proud to share the incredible stories of these 20 inspiring individuals, who epitomize all of the virtues and values we are looking for in a Foot Locker Scholar Athlete.”

Lillie, an emancipated minor, is captain of Clairemont’s track and field team, a member of the volleyball team, vice president of the Key Club, and carries a 3.9 grade-point average, according to a profile on the website of the Foot Locker Scholar Athlete Program.

The profile said she has had to overcome many challenges, which were not specified. She has not decided on a college, according to Foot Locker.
