An outage of the San Diego County jails commissary system entered its fourth day Sunday.
The system began experiencing technical difficulties Thursday evening and was taken offline to prevent further issues, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.
Based on current assessments, commissary operations are not expected to resume until at least Wednesday, officials said.
During the outage, family and friends of individuals in sheriff’s custody are unable to purchase commissary items or add funds to the accounts of incarcerated persons, who are also unable to order commissary items.
The public websites that access the system are also unavailable.
“The Sheriff’s Office understands the importance of these services to the individuals in our care and to their loved ones. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this disruption may cause,” SDSO Reentry Services Manager Michelle Aguinaldo said. “We are actively working with our vendors to identify the cause of the problem and restore full functionality as quickly as possible.”
