Three people escaped from a vehicle that was submerged in Oceanside Harbor Saturday morning, authorities said.
First responders from the Oceanside Fire Department, Carlsbad Fire Department, Oceanside Marine Safety Unit and Oceanside Police Department were dispatched shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday to 1325 N. Harbor Drive for a report of a vehicle sinking in the water, according to OFD officials.
“The first-arriving unit found a vehicle completely submerged approximately six feet from shore. The vehicle appeared to be unoccupied,” OFD Battalion Chief Anthony Walker said. “Personnel from the Oceanside Marine Safety Unit entered the water and searched the vehicle and surrounding area, confirming that no victims were inside.”
Witnesses reported seeing three people exit the water and leave the area in a pickup truck before emergency personnel arrived, officials said.
The vehicle was pulled from the water by a tow truck and no injuries were reported.
Oceanside Police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the vehicle entering the water.
