A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly stabbing her common-law husband to death during an argument in the Corridor neighborhood, authorities said Tuesday.
Officers responded around 11:30 a.m. Friday to reports of a loud dispute and a stabbing at a residence in the 4000 block of 39th Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police said they found Daniel Estevan Cornejo, 33, suffering from severe bleeding. Despite life-saving efforts by responding officers, Cornejo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators identified his wife, 33, as the suspect. Venta remained at the scene and reported minor injuries. She was evaluated at a local hospital before being released and booked into the Las Colinas Detention Facility on a single count murder.
She remains in jail pending an arraignment scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, according to jail records.
The couple share a 6-year-old child who was at school during the incident. San Diego police coordinated with school police to aid the child, who has since been placed with extended family, officials said.
