Firefighters Tuesday continued to patrol and mop up a brush fire that swept up a hillside alongside State Route 79 in Santa Ysabel, northwest of Julian.

The fire is 75% contained as of Tuesday morning, Cal Fire said.

The Junction Fire began for as-yet unknown reasons shortly after 5 p.m. Monday near Morettis Junction in Santa Ysabel. Forward progress of the fire was stopped at about eight acres by 6:45 p.m. Monday.

All closures on SR-79 have been lifted for both northbound and southbound lanes.
